march 2008 update

Hi all, finally thought it appropriate to update everyone on how we're tracking....

Family life feels pretty great at the moment. Dabria seems to be growing by the day, People often ask how she's going and is she settling in. My first thought always is "...settling into what?" before I realise what they mean. We have not thought of her as adopted for some time, she's just our beautiful daughter and the boys think of her as their baby sister. We're currently in process of changing her name officially to Dabria Toni Alessia Mei Niedzwiedz (breath), before finalising it all with Australian citizenship. I'll upload some photo's which hopefully will convey what a happy little child she is.

Dante is doing wonderfully at school. He's hitting the books every night after school to complete his homework and even spent time last weekend completing a project that's not due for another week...what's all that about? Definitely didn't get that from me. Soccer starts again this weekend (we can't wait) and he'll be aiming to improve on last years 10 goals..our little Beckham.

Gabriel has developed asperations of becoming a gardener and recently interviewed one that did work on our backyard about how best to achieve this ambition. His teacher recently commented that he has the kindest heart, even though he's getting quite creative about devising ways of getting mum to let him stay home. Bless the effort!

When all 3 of your kids appear to developing into such special little people in their ownunique ways, it makes you feel like you're doing something right as a parent.

Hope everyone is well and talk to you soon

We're Home!!!

We’re finally home and it feels great to be back. Our precious angel is where she belongs. It really feels like that.

We were so tired on our return, but it was great to see all the family again. It was a great homecoming – Aunty Alessia threw Dabria a welcome home party and it was fantastic introducing our girl to the people that will love her for the rest of her life.
The trip felt really long. We thought an overnight flight would be easy, but we got no sleep. The night before, our last in Shanghai, Dabria got a cold and because of her blocked nose did not get any sleep – so neither did we. That was followed by an 18 hour flight, so we were knackered last night. I actually fell asleep in the middle of a Gabriel’s bedtime story – he gave me a wack saying “Dad, finish the story”.
Dabria slept beautifully in her new cot and is loving her new home. Teresa had to go out to buy a new outfit, the first of many shopping trips I’m sure.
Thank you so much to everyone that met us at the airport, and a big thank you to everyone who followed our exploits on this blog – we’ve had over 7600 hits this past month!! It’s a humbling feeling knowing you all cared enough to keep track of our journey. I’m really glad this amazing technology called the internet enabled us to keep to in touch with everyone.
We feel like we can begin the rest of our lives now, as things were really on hold for a couple of years there. I won’t be updating this blog nearly as often now, but keep checking now and then to see how our family is going. Now that we have some free time, I’ll edit some more video footage and post that soon.
Good bye for now and thanks again for following our journey.
Konrad, Teresa, Dante, Gabriel and Dabria – angel kisses from Dominique
